Barranquilla Carnival
This carnival is celebrated in Barranquilla Colombia. This carnival came from the carnival of Spain and Brasil, in that days of celebration the slaves that were brought from Africa, walked in the streets playing typical instruments and dancing typical dances like mapale. They celebrate this carnival on the second week of February, it lasts 4 days and it starts with a carriage parade, then the big parade and at last the burial of Joselito Carvajal . For the pre carnivals people choose queen and the king MOMO and the pre carnival starts whit whistles that announce the arrival of the carnival.
The carnival has 4 stages that are, Saturday of carnaval that starts with the flowers battle, and then a parade of carriages that is leadered by the queen that is followed by folkloric groups, cumbiambas and people dancing, this celebration was created by Heriberto Arturo Vangoecha for celebrating the end of the the war of a thousand days. The next stage is the Sunday of carnival in which they make the big stop, there are dancers and folkloric music.

The following parade is Monday of carnival in which is celebrated the festival of orchestras that starts the first hours of the afternoon of Monday till the dawn of Tuesday, in this festival they present different categories of music ,the winner wins the Congo de oro.
The last stage is Tuesday of carnival is the closing event in which they celebrate the burial of Joselito Carvajal.This carnival is a cultural event in wich they present all the cultures of the atlantic coast like dances and music. some dances are: el mapale, danza del caiman, cumbia, danza del torito, danza del congo etc.
